Direction
Through Denmark to Hirtshals. The time information in Google is reliable. The speed limit of 130 km/h should definitely be observed. The motorway ends almost directly at the ferry terminal. Choose the Colour Line or Fjordline terminal there.
If you want to stay overnight in Kristiansand on the return journey to catch the next early ferry, we recommend the Radisson Blue. It is only two minutes away from the pier. Breakfast at 8 am. Ferry closes at 8.30 a.m. – is possible. Alternative: breakfast on board.
From Kristiansand, get off the ferry, after approx. 200 metres take the second exit at the roundabout under the bridge in the direction of Stavanger and then go straight on.
In Stavanger, turn off in the direction of Roldal (Ryfylkevegen, Rv13) and drive into the Ryfylke tunnel. When you come out of the tunnel, just drive in the direction of Hjelmeland. Just before Hjelmeland, follow the sign for Randoy. When you reach the island (after the bridge), turn left immediately and take the exit to Hyttefeld.
Alternatively, you can take the Fjordline night ferries to/from Hirtshals. The outside sleeping cabins are very comfortable. The inside cabins are a little cramped. The ferry leaves Stavanger or Hirtshals at 7 am the next morning. The ferry terminal in Stavanger is right next to Sola airfield. It takes a good hour to get to the cabin. You can combine both ferries.
